A few days of family visits starting from now, and I got mama with me too.

An aerial view from an airplane window shows the St Louis cityscape with the Mississippi River running through it.

Doggo relationship right now:

❤️ his energy, personality and enthusiasm. 👎🏾 his love of finding literally any shoe in the house and pretending it’s a bird kill or something.

We’re a shoes off house 😩 Whoever had him before us clearly gave him shoes to play with instead of proper dog toys.

A black dog is lying on a wooden floor, looking pensive.

RIParadise John Amos.

Two black and white portraits show the John Amos at different ages, one in his younger years and one older.

Gonna tell my kids this is Tokyo Tower. #randomTokyo

People in a Japanese neighborhood are gathered in an open area near a festival float and a large power transmission tower.

My Monday ain’t hitting right at all.

Well #HurricaneHelene blew through my part of Georgia leaving us intact but lots of flooding and power outages all over the place. Very glad we were spared the brunt of her fury and bless up those who caught the wrath of a cyclone scorned.

Welp, y’all wish me luck! ⛈️ 🌀

A weather map shows an impending tropical storm system over the southeastern United States, with heavy rain impacting areas including Atlanta and Charleston.

Third weekend in September means JapanFest times.

Had a blast connecting with the Japanese diaspora of residents and businesses here around Atlanta with my family and reconnecting with folks from the diaspora in the community.

A crowd of people gathers near a large Japanese “Torii”archway made of red and yellow balloons inside a spacious, brightly lit room.A group of people are browsing shelves filled with “goshapon” capsule machines in a large indoor space.Musicians play traditional Japanese instruments on stage while a crowd watches, and two speakers stand nearby with microphones.

Auto-generated description: Clothes are hanging on a line with a view of a rural landscape featuring houses, trees, and power lines in the background.

This was actually the view out the back of my Tokyo apartment 6 years ago. #randomTokyo #Japan

my oldest brother is a newly minted resident of Georgia and registered to vote a few weeks ago. The political parties are fighting for his attention in his mailbox. This is life in a swing state right now.

Today feels like one of those days where I’m going to wish I could be paid in extra sleep instead of just money.

Really glad to see Shōgun win some Emmy hardware last night. I need to go back and rewatch it now. (And also complete it as I think I only got through 4 episodes)

Did the Sunday afternoon canvass here in Gwinnett Co. GA. I’m seeing a whole lot more of these than I thought I would for this area. Also great conversations with my neighbors. I’m glad I can do my part in educating and motivating my fellow Gwinnecians 🗳️

A campaign sign reading "Veterans for Harris 2024" is placed in a grassy area near trees in a suburban home's yard.

Glad he got his sense of smell back. The schnozz is working overtime on walks now. 🐕🐾🐶

Can’t remember where exactly this was but I think Chofu… or maybe Shimo Kitazawa. #randomtokyoeveryday

Ok, I think @snarfed and @manton might have fixed the issue with not being able to follow @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy here…

So this is a test to try and cross the bridge. 🤞🏾

I’ve got 3000+ random shots of Tokyo and Kanagawa in my phone from when I lived there.

So here comes the “random Tokyo every now and then” thing I’m starting.

A sunset view over a suburban landscape outside Tokyo is seen through a large window, with buildings and distant mountains in the background.

I figured this was coming eventually. The Shinkansen has no grade crossings and is essentially a long distance high speed metro line when it comes to how it’s operated. Signaling already uses ATC with auto-parking at major stops to help line up doors with platform gates. And with the exception of the Yamagata Shinkansen, it shares no tracks with any conventional zairaisen train services. #TokyoTrainNerd #TrainsOfJapan
