Also mind you, there’s a high degree of regionalism too– $2000 rent in LA or NYC is a lucky find; in Macon, GA this would be a luxury apartment. The great equalizer is proving to be utility rates now. In the cheaper areas, they aren’t as regulated and fluctuate wildly; in the metro areas, the dips and humps are smoothed out by subsidies.
